Shopping Atlantic Avenue: Bags, Bags & More Bags
The Block: With the holiday frenzy already in full gear, Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn’s Boerum Hill is a breath of fresh air — room to walk, a neighborhoody feel and a great array of stores. From established names, local indie boutiques and several of those make-you-want-to-redecorate your home stores, there’s something on Atlantic Avenue for everyone.
I recently hit the avenue to do a little pre-Thanksgiving madness gift reconnaissance and looked for a few things for my winter wardrobe.
Barney’s CO-OP: The arrival of CO-OP one year ago solidified this stretch as a shopping destination in its own right. And at this branch of CO-OP in Brooklyn, I spotted a few Alexander Wang handbags in dreamy leathers and those colorful J Brand jeans that seem to be on everyone’s must-have list (especially in red).
Over at Steven Alan, you can also stock up on good quality basics like button town plaid tops, oxford shirting and these darling merino wool striped leggings. And of course, this adorable “Francoise” bag.
And at indie boutique Kaight, a boutique that specializes in emerging and “slow fashion” designers, Collina Strata handbags caught our eye. Made from vegan leather mixed with interesting prints and pleats, it was definitely a snap-worthy item. They also carry sweaters from heritage brand of-the-moment Pendleton and Melissa waterproof shoes.
A few doors down is Michelle New York, a boutique that carries well-known brands like Rebecca Minkoff and other chic labels, and for sophisticated looks, designer Anya Ponorovskya’s free-standing store showcases her beautiful handbags and shoes that can only be found at the boutique.
Have you seen any snap-worthy bags? Be sure to share your own finds while you’re out shopping this weekend on Reqoop!
